IS IT THEM OR IS IT ME?

THE CAUSE AND SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEMS WE FACE.

A friend and I had a conversation about activist groups.

Explicitly: do they achieve anything?

Does the ‘collective’ make a sustainable shift as a result of their activism?

Does activism change anything at the most fundamental level, that is, at the level of human consciousness – human understanding?

THAT IS THE QUESTION!

It’s fantastic; it’s imperative that people give and want to give their time, effort, energy and abilities to address problems.

However, a trap fallen into, even in the most well-intentioned groups, is that we become lost in our ideology – our conditioning – our beliefs, opinions, judgements and yes – our knowledge.

As a result, we morph into ‘group think’ – a collective state of impossibility*.

We fail to address the universal cause*. Instead we address the endless array of symptoms.

WHAT DO WE MISS SEEING THAT RENDERS OUR EFFORTS WEAK?

Individually we fail to see that I am at cause – I’m at the seat of causality in my world – the world – in whatever shape we think it may be.

Consider this perspective: If we ‘wake-up’ we see – become conscious of the reality – that we, individually are at cause in our life and the world we are creating, moment to moment.

We see that our contribution to a ‘better’ world doesn’t come from what we say, pray, shout or protest about.

Our valid contribution comes from how we live our life. It’s how we are as a human being, day in day out.

That’s the level at which we make a real difference – the only point at which we can make a sustainable impact.

In ‘waking up’, we are then equipped to sustain any new reality we might experience. We then do what we do, influenced from that state of Possibility*. Not before.

In being unaware of how we create reality, we remain trapped; pointing the finger of blame out there. At others. At the world.

It’s easier to point the finger at them – at those who are at fault, in one way or another, in ‘making such a mess of our world’. Oh no, we say. It’s not us! It’s them!

That’s where we miss the mark. When I point the finger at others, I do so in my blindness and innocent avoidance of accepting that I am at cause with the state that my world – the world – is in.

I remain a part of the unconscious mess, the violence, the exploitation, the inequality, the divisiveness and isolation. It is me at work, as an unconscious part of the collective.

Till that moment of insight, we remain the problem. Not the solution. We are busy ‘rearranging the deckchairs as the Titanic sinks’.

When you and I wake up in a state of Possibility* – our innate state of kindness, understanding, wisdom and common sense, that’s when we make a difference.

Waking up in that reality transforms our world, reforms the world.

Warmly … John
